The governor of the state of Kogi, Yahaya Bello, elected his Chief of Staff, Edward Onoja, as his candidate for the election of governor on November 16.
This happens months after he had a public discussion with his Deputy, Simon Achuba.
Bello presented Onoja’s name to the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC), during his trip to Abuja last week. One of his assistants confirmed this development to Today Nigeria Newspaper in a brief message exchange.
When asked if the Governor had chosen Onoja, he simply replied: “Yes”, before providing a link to one of the social media pages of the Chief of Staff.
Bello emerged as the champion of APC almost two weeks ago.
He won the primaries held in Lokoja, the state capital on Thursday by 3,127 votes.
A total of 3,596 delegates were accredited.
