Army Chief, Buratai reveals those behind insecurity in Nigeria

The Chief of the General Staff of the Army, Lieutenant General. Tukur Buratai has accused officers and soldiers of the Intelligence Corps of the Nigerian Army of being proactive in providing intelligence to the armed forces to combat various security threats across the country.

The Nigeria newspaper report that Buratai gave the charge by inaugurating the annex of the newly built Intelligence Corps headquarters on Wednesday in Abuja.

He said he had made deliberate efforts to improve the overall operational capabilities of the Nigerian army since he assumed the position of the army chief.

Buratai said he had struggled to achieve the goal by implementing innovative strategies to ensure that the army was always ahead of the adversary.

“To this end, we have also made a deliberate effort to improve the welfare and regulatory standard of military personnel and training, respectively, towards the development of new specific infrastructures and the revision of existing ones to comply with international standards.

“The new headquarters of the annex of the Intelligence Corps Complex of the Nigerian Army that is in charge today is one of those projects.

“Let me say categorically that it is no accident that I have made a conscious effort to ensure the overall improvement of the intelligence body of the Nigerian army.

“This is given the primacy of intelligence in the fight against contemporary asymmetric threats to national security, in addition to the fact that considering the intelligence of the Nigerian army as part of the family-run by children,” he said.

The army chief said that a well-equipped and managed army intelligence that works optimally would have a multiplier effect across the spectrum of all military operations and activities.

He said authorities would continue to maintain the effort while praising the army intelligence corps for being proactive in providing timely and accurate intelligence in support of ongoing military operations.

“Therefore, I want to take this opportunity to order the officers and soldiers of the body to revitalize their efforts to collect and analyze the Nigerian army and the entire nation to combat the myriad of asymmetric threats to our existence and security. collective, “he said.

The Chief of Military Intelligence, Nigerian Army, Division General. Samuel Adebayo revealed that the new headquarters annex came just nine months after the inauguration of the new headquarters in 2018.

Adeboye praised Buratai for the prompt release of funds for the timely completion of the project, adding that the intelligence capabilities of the intelligence body had been improved.

He said the building would house the critical operational support element of the intelligence body of the Nigerian army and is already equipped to ensure optimal performance.

According to him, to ensure maximum use of human intelligence, the chief of army personnel has approved funds for the training of officers. “No army chief of staff has committed as many resources in the body as Buratai has done,” he said.
